March 2025 Canary Health Newsletter
With each passing week of 2025, I can’t help but think about the curse “May you live in interesting times". It is used to describe a period of significant change, uncertainty, or upheaval, implying that the current era is turbulent and challenging.
To say the least, we do live in interesting times…and we must be vigilant in our efforts to support the most vulnerable in our society. I am proud of the work Canary Health®/Building Better Caregivers® does to provide mental health support to the unsung heroes in our community who care for their loved ones with significant health and mental health challenges.
With national Caregiver Appreciation Day (every March 3rd), we collectively honor, appreciate, and thank the selfless caregivers who give their time and effort to care for those in need every day of the year.
During these interesting times, we have had a great accomplishment to celebrate ---the signing of the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act.
Read what the Military Officers Association of America says what Dole act means for Veterans and their caregivers.
The NCOA (National Council on Aging) recently published a how-to piece on 5 Ways Family Caregivers Can Get Paid.
We've also included potential tax discounts you can take advantage of this tax season. Learn directly from the IRS ways caregivers might be able to benefit financially from caring for a loved one.
